The concept for the Internet Computer / Internet Computer Protocol (ICP) was conceived in 2015 and launched on mainnet in 2021.
Although the roadmap (R&D) is still in progress, from 2023 " ICP HUBs " will be established around the world, and an ecosystem will be developed to promote the spread of these technologies and expand their use cases.
In this context, ICP Japan will be launched as an organization with the aim of popularizing and promoting the Internet Computer (decentralized cloud) ecosystem in Japan . In collaboration with the Dfinity Foundation and HUBs around the world, we will create various onboarding opportunities and work with the Japanese government, enterprise companies, startups, developers, media, innovation organizations, and investors to build a community for the creation of use cases that utilize blockchain in the Web3 era, as well as provide incubation services.
ICP HUB and ICP Asia Alliance
ICP HUB has approximately 30 locations worldwide and is affiliated with the Dfinity Foundation.
We are creating alliances and cases that utilize Internet Computer technology in various regions, and building up ecosystems to create them. ICP Japan is starting as the Japanese version of these, and will also collaborate with the world. In Asia, the " ICP Asia Alliance " has been established, and an ecosystem is gradually being established based on a capital pool of 20 million dollars (over 3.1 billion yen) from September 2023.
What is Internet Computer/ICP?
Internet Computer / ICP (Internet Computer Protocol) is gaining attention as a "decentralized cloud" in the Web3 era.
ICP is more of a cloud than a blockchain. (It is a decentralized cloud using blockchain technology.)
It will not only make the current difficult UX of Web3 similar to that of the general web (improving development and user experience), including elements such as the integration of various blockchains (multi-chain), the application of AI on smart contracts (DeAI), and unified ID (SSI/DID) with passwordless/WebAuthn, but also create an interoperable and composable service ecosystem using public clouds, add token economics and DAO-style governance (scalability not possible with the conventional Internet), and become an innovative application development platform from cost perspective to added value creation.

ICP Japan launch event planned
The " ICP Japan Launch Event - Decentralized Cloud Ecosystem in the Web3 Era " will be held on Saturday, June 29, 2024 from 2:00 PM at Hamamatsucho (Pacific Hub), Tokyo.
At this event, in conjunction with the launch of ICP Japan, we will be providing an overview of ICP and future ecosystem build-up for enterprises, startups, developers, media, investors, etc. who are interested in Web3 and decentralized applications (dApps).
